Vincent Audio's CD-S7 hybrid CD player carries over the popular features of the German company's widely acclaimed CD-S6 MK, including a vacuum tube output stage for rich and glorious sound.
But that's only the beginning of the performance possibilities.
This latest iteration of the popular CD-S7 adds outboard DAC functionality and christens the new version the CD-S7 DAC. You can now take advantage of the glorious 'Golden Age' analog sound processing of this vacuum tube hybrid player with your PC and other digital sources. The CD-S7 DAC accepts digital signal via optical, coaxial, and USB inputs. And when you're not feeding it outboard digital files, revel in the CD-S7 DAC's luxurious treatment of your CDs.

With the success of the flagship CD-S6 MK CD player, Vincent's managing director, Uwe Bartel, challenged his German engineers to do even better. After three years of development, they determined that changes in vital areas afforded the biggest sonic improvements in the player's performance.
For enhanced performance compared to the CD-S6, the CD-S7 DAC uses two Burr-Brown PCM1796 DACs rather than the PCM-1732 found in the S6. And instead of the CD-S6's two-way design, the new S7 boasts a four channel balanced analog amplifier stage. Another big step up is the use of premium internal components, including WIMA capacitors, with M-CAP capacitors employed in the power circuit board.
The oversize power supply contributes to the response, stability, and quiet operation. The power supply uses a 6Z4 and a 12AX7 tube. The surprising 20-lb. weight of the CD-S7 DAC and its substantial chassis testifies to the quality of the power supply as well as the general build.
The Burr-Brown PCM1796 24-bit, 192 kHz DAC offers significantly improved sound with much better dynamics and improved decoding precision. Also brand new is a Sanyo DA11 transport mechanism which offers precision reading of your CDs.
