Let it rip!

Fantastic, clean power. Hook this amp up to some quality speakers and you will be amazed. Presently running older Infinity Reference 5 floorstanders and a twelve inch powered sub. This thing really cranks but also sounds great at low volume. If your looking for stereo this is the one!

Denon PMA-2000IVR

This is a very nice amp. I used it to replace a 20 year old Pioneer A90. Input configuration is good. More flexiblity in the tone controls would be nice--the Pioneer allowed the user to select turnover (bass) and rolloff (treble) corner frequencies. Nowadays I suppose you're not supposed to need tone controls (let alone equalizers) because your speakers are supposed to be flat. In the room, though, that is often a difficult goal to realize. Anyway, the Denon amp sounds great driving my own design speakers.

A must have if you want powerful, unadulterated Stereo

I have a well equipped home recording studio. In the process of mixing and mastering, one test is what the final song sounds like on a "home" stereo system, as opposed to the flat response studio monitors. All home stereos have a certain bias toward boosting lower frequencies, as listeners are accustomed to enhanced bass response. But the problem with most stereo systems is that the typical receiver is loaded with DSP settings, which color the sound further. I wanted a straight ahead, powerful, high quality integrated amp. Didn't want a tuner. Didn't want goofy DSP circuits. This unit really blew me away. Very impressive. A massive (I mean this sucker is heavy, very BEEFY) amplifier that will blow you out of the room at anything much more than a one-third turn of the volume control when playing a CD. I love it. Just what I needed. Plus, I was hugely impressed by the professionalism, customer support, and overall business culture I experienced in dealing with Crutchfield. They will definitely be on my go-to list for anything I want that they carry.

I bought this integrated based on good buzz on the internet and was not disappointed. Ohhh man does it sound great! Very detailed highs. Smooth and not fatiguing in the mids. Tightened up the bass on my Polk LSI-15's. "Untangles" the instruments as has been mentioned in previous reviews. Tons of power (more than I would ever need). Highly recommended.

I bought a model from the outlet store and when it came the remote volume control did not work. Crutchfield sent me another one (new for the same price as the outlet model). no hassles no cost. That's great customer service!

Pics don't do it justice

The pictures make the thing look small but it's not, it's really hefty. It's heavy, use your legs not your back when you lift this thing. The sound has a force, has like an impact a power house for only 80 watts! I'm more than happy with my purchase. I was worried at first about having it mailed to me in Japan but it was doubled boxed with those little peanuts protecting it. THX Crutchfeild!

Perhaps Best Integrated on the Market

I am a former owner of Conrad Johnson and NAD gear. After 20 years, my power envelope began to give up. I had been doing research since December for a new integrated/seperates set up and decided on Crutchfield and this Dennon.

While it is not as warm as tubes, it comes darn close. The power reserve is incredible and powerfull sections of music flow with ease with this amplifer. The power is very clean and warm, with much detail in the mids and highs, but not bright. Bass is handled well and with authority.

The most remarkable feature is the soundstage, which at this price level, is unequaled. I read a review at www.audioreview.com that said the amp did a great job at "untangling" the soundstage and that word best describes the performance. It's not just an orchestra, its individual violins that compose the sound, something that is remarkable. Bands really seem to be in front of you and your speakers will sing like they never have before.

After listening to NAD, Rotel, and Cambridge this unit was superior on all counts, a steal at its price.

I highly recommend this unit to any audiophile who wants the best and not wanting to break the bank.

NOTE: Make sure you operate the unit for about 60 to 100 hours before attempting critical listening. It is refered to as "burn in" and it makes a huge difference in sound vs. right out of the box. Don't give up if it sounds harsh and slighly distorted out of box, it will open up with use and is worth the wait!

Extraordinary Value

With outstanding build and sound quality, this dual-mono bi-wire capable pre-amp/amp outperforms everything else at its price-point. The sound is both crystaline and neutral (a high-end quality not usually found in more modestly priced equipment). The unit's ability to swing large amounts of voltage provides tremendous heft and hair-raising dynamics when the signal calls for it. Totally lacking in unwanted noise and beautifully made, it sounds and looks like the quality product it is.

The manufacturer cautions that the unit requires about 100 hours of burn-in (use) before the sound reproduction reaches its proper balances. My unit needed about 60 hours to fully open the sound. Once that happened, the sound stage became multi-dimensional with great width, height, depth, and rock-solid imaging (sound-source location).

Musically, both fundamentals and harmonics sound realistic and accurate. Well recorded pianos and guitars sound natural and like they're in the room with you. Large groups like orchestras and choirs sound integrated; at the same time the PMA-2000IVR keeps individual instruments and voices distinct. Small groups sound intimate. DVD soundtracks are involving to the point you forget the unit is on. Live performances sound live. Distortion is so low you can listen all day and night without fatigue. In short, this unit reproduces what was recorded without adding or taking-away anything.

After several months of use I think the Denon PMA-2000IVR preamp/amp is a huge bargain worth much much more than the asking price.

The sound is very much high-end on CDs, DVDs, Cable TV, and Satellite Radio, while the price is anything but.

Wonderful piece of equipment

This unit has a wonderful sound! I power Sonus Faber Concerto speakers with it, and boy, the sound is warm, but not too much so. The power is there when you need it for those sudden, loud passages. I can't afford a real high end amplifier. But my Denon gives me the sound I was looking for! I just love it.

Tube sound from solid state?

Sold my Jolida JD-801A tube amplifier, got the Denon PMA2000IVR as a

'loaner' from my local dealer. The surprising thing is that after about 100 hours of use, I really like the detail and solid bass control this amplifier has. On my Dali Mentor 6 speakers, the sound is really quite good. Who say's U can't teach an old dog new tricks. If music is a passion for you, and price a consideration, I highly recommend it!!

Big sound, big weight

I have used the PMA-2000IVR in two different rooms -- one big and one a lot smaller -- and it was (is) great in both. It's hooked up to a pair of Vienna Acoustics Grand Haydn speakers, along with an REL Q108 E subwoofer and Denon's TU-1500 RD tuner. Since I went overboard with the system, I went overboard with the speaker and connecting wire -- Audio Quest Slate speaker wire and Diamondback connecting wire. I never thought speaker and connecting wire could make a difference. But the sound is amazing. The only negative is that the PMA-2000IVR is very, very heavy. I had to buy a Salamander shelf system to hold it securely. It's a great-sounding integrated amp I'd recommend to anyone.

Solid Integrated Amplifier

It has been well documented that amps, preamps, and integrated amps don't have a sound of their own as long as the frequency response if flat ( 20 Hz - 20 kHz +/- 3dB), crosstalk is < -60 dB @ 1 kHz, & THD < 1% from 20 Hz - 20 kHz.

Thus, the major things to look for in any amp is the ability to drive your speakers and the built quality.

Here are some specs:

230 watts (30.3 V) into 4 ohms, 7.6A Current

334 watts (25.8 V) into 2 ohms, 12.9A Current

399 watts (20.0 V) into 1 ohm, 20.0A Current

I have personally driven my speakers DefTech BP7000SC to 100dB with the PMA-2000IVR without any kind of problem whatsoever.

My front L + R speakers have a minimum impedance of about 3 ohms, while my front Center speaker (CLR3000) has a minimum impedance of about 2 ohms.

My conclusion is that this amp is very solidly built and can drive practically any speakers.
