A very good buy for the money, March 8, 2009
I am a self Proclaimed audiofile, I moved from HSU Subs to SVS to my current RT-12D.
Everyone of the subs I've owned in the past were excellent and can produce great sound.
However I wanted extremely accurate bass for my HT setup.
These subs rumble for a room that's 16x24x12 and the most important part is that it delivers very clean accurate bass, that's what sets it apart from other subs that can thump.
I've mated this with a set of RF-83's.
I've been extremely impressed with Klipsch
(which actually all stemmed from buying a pair of their Promedia computer speakers!)

I've owned mine for over a year and agree with other reveiwers that this is a good sub for the money.
I'd like to get another but I they seem to be as rare as hens teeth and I'm going to pay a premium for one at this point. I'd even buy two if the price was right.
The triangular shape is a real plus for corner placement as is keeps it conveniently located and provides plenty of low frequencies.
The speaker has one active and two passive drivers.

This is the second Klipsch RT-12d purchased and is an addition to the sound system for the media room.
This sub is powerful with an 800 watt amp and reproduces low frequencies very well.
Because of the triangular shape of the sub, it facilitates easy corner positioning to maximize bass efficiency.
With the active speakers angled to the center of the room and the dual passive woofers reflecting from the corners bass smoothly permeates the room.
The room correction helps to tighten the bass, or punch if you prefer, while also evening out the frequency response within the room.
A special note, if you elect to interconnect the subs, the room correction program will correct for both subs.
Each sub has a digital display to adjust volume and other settings.
There are features such as music or movie mode that boost a specific frequency, and also a night time mode.
The phase of the sub can also be adjusted through the interface.
Unless you integrate a IR remote to control the sub, you'll need to manually adjust them to those modes by walking over to the sub.
However, the features mentioned: movie, music, night and phase are often replicated on a receivers menu therefore depending on your specific set up
you can utilize your receiver's features to control these features. Since the receiver in this set up controls these features, the subs are left in the "flat" mode.
The subs also have the ability to filter or pass frequencies. Not a feature utilized in the set up since the receiver also controls the pass in this case.
There is the ability to set the pass adjustment and to also define how "hard" the sub will pass at the desired pass frequency -
do not use this feature, but the ability to tweak to a very finite amount is built in. Klipsch can provide a software to calibrate at a more detailed level, but for most users the interface is enough.
Would not have added a second to the sound set up without being very pleased with the performance of the first. Extremely, happy with the sub.
I'm very happy that I purchased this subwoofer.
Klipsch has made a good subwoofer with a good design.
The subwoofer sounds very good and it looks very good.
My only issue is that I personally like the cherry finish on the subwoofer better than the black finish although both look very nice.
As for abt, I had never heard of them before visiting the Klipsch website. I'm very happy with their service. [...]I was impressed.
I would definetely recommend them to others and would purchase from them again.

Best Uses: Home Theater
